What is SoulCollage®?
Ask several facilitators or participants, and you’ll get several different answers. For me, SoulCollage® is a creative, fun way to describe the indescribable stirrings of the soul. It’s a process that allows you to express and explore your heart and inner life in an artful, intuitive way.
Developed by Seena B. Frost, M.A., M.Div. (1932–2016) through her psychotherapy practice in the late 1980s, SoulCollage® evolved into a community-centered process for self discovery. Seena’s book, SoulCollage® Evolving (2010), and subsequent facilitator trainings helped the practice to grow throughout the world. SoulCollage® is used worldwide by spiritual directors, teachers, therapists, and everyday people in workshops, retreats, classrooms, coaching, and spiritual direction. With more than 6,500 trained facilitators worldwide in 67 countries, the community continues to grow.
Using images from magazines and books, or your own photographs, combined with intuition, imagination, and a bit of glue on mat board, you create your personal “deck” of collaged cards. Each card reflects an aspect of your life, your journey, your community, and the people or forces that guided and supported you along the way.

Some people enjoy the artistic expression of SoulCollage® and the satisfaction of creating something. Others are drawn to the contemplative process, letting images “call” to them, answering that call by cutting and arranging them into cards. After completing a card, participants reflect on the image by completing the sentence: “I am one who…” along with other prompts, allowing the card to speak and reveal aspects of the soul.
Anyone can do SoulCollage®, even if you believe you have no artistic ability. The process is flexible and deeply personal: your cards are unique to you, for your own exploration, reflection, and discovery. Journaling, meditation, or other contemplative practices can deepen your connection to the images, uncovering new insights, personal growth, self-acceptance, and spiritual wisdom.
